Congress in the MARC Editorial Division, and in 1984 he became a preliminary cataloger in Descriptive Cataloging Division. During 1992 he transferred to Cataloging in publication (CIP) Division on the reorganization where he serve on the Cataloging Team. He is still working in the Library of Congress and he earn 41 years in the federal government service. He began a job as accessioner for D.C. Public Library when he graduated from Gallaudet University in 1965.
Toby was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1939. When he was a seven month old, an illness (meningitis) hit him very bad sick. It lead him to become deafness. His mother didn't know what to do with him as a deaf child then his family doctor suggested mother to send him to a private deaf school. Later when he was four year old, he went to a private deaf catholic school named St. Rita School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1943. He stayed at the school until he graduated from high school in 1957. He was military brat because his father was in Air Force career. He had moved a lot from state to state when his father was stationed but he lived mostly with my grandparents in Lexington, KY during his school period.
Before Toby entered Gallaudet, he failed my examination college test. He went to Kendall School as a special student for 2 years (1957-59). He entered to Gallaudet University in 1959 and graduated in 1965. He got married with Mary Wells, Cincinnati, Ohio (ex-69) in 1967 and have 2 grown up children; Vicki and Jim. Mary and he also have two grandsons (2 and 5 yrs old) from Vicki. We live in New Carrollton, Maryland since 1973. My hobbies are hiking, photography, travel and sports. He has been a Washington Redskins season ticket holder for forty years.
