President
Gerald A. Miller
was born in Washington, D.C. on February 10, 1948 and has 2 deaf
brothers; Kenneth and Justin who also went to Kendall School for the
Deaf (KSD). The cause of both brothers and his deafness were
unknown. Before he attended KSD at age 11, he went to two D.C.
public schools. One year later after his enrollment at KSD, Kenneth
graduated and 2 years later, Justin enrolled.
Gerald’s mother,
Louise B. Miller was involved in the US District Court in the year
of 1952, Miller vs. Board of Education, to force the integration of
Kendall School for the Deaf located on Kendall Green where Gallaudet
University also is located. He graduated there in 1967.
Gerald is
currently working for U.S. Geological Survey Interior Dept as
Cartographic Technician, now for 39 years. He is married to Lavonda
Hodges also from Kendall School and have 2 sons now aged 30 and 27.
Gerald was one of
the best 5 players in basketball in 1964 and 1965 when we won 2
straight championships in both Division 2 and 1. His hobbies are
traveling on road, attending different organizations, such as USADB,
National Black Deaf Advocates (NBDA) and more with great
opportunities in meeting new and old friends and loves sports
especially fishing…
