Byron
Zimmerman was born deaf in Washington, DC on May 14, 1945. He went to
Kendall School since he was about four years old. He was too young to
graduate at his age of 15 regardless of the fact that he passed the entrance tests for Gallaudet
University. As for this result, he transferred to Maryland School for
the Deaf where he finally graduated three years later. He enjoyed
playing sports at both schools while he was a captain for basketball. It
is unforgettable that he won the championships at both schools.
He went to Gallaudet University for two years before he got a job at a
printing shop as a supervisor in Rockville, Maryland for several years.
Presently, he is working for Government Printing Office as an IT
Specialist (Internet) in Washington, DC. He and his wife are living in
Severn, Maryland.
Byron married his wife, Shirley in 1981 in the past 25th wedding
anniversary recently. They have two sons, Tony and Ryan. They graduated
at University of Maryland. They got married and have two children each
so far.
In Byron’s spare time, he and his family go to the beach where they have
a condo, computer stuffs, photography, and traveling.
