Brenda Sue Pickering's Biography |
|
Web
Developer/Designer
Brenda Sue Pickering was born in Arkansas
and hopped around in many states until her family had finally settled down
in Crescent City, California and subsequently in New Harmony, Indiana. She
lost her hearing at the age of two, probably by severe ear infection and
cold fever. She attended two schools for the deaf in Berkeley, California
and Indianapolis, Indiana from where she graduated in 1969. Her
Sociology-Social Worker degree and the next second degree in Computer
Information System were followed up respectively at Gallaudet University in
1973 and at Northern VA Community College in fifteen years later.
Brenda Sue is, currently, working for 16 1/2
years as the Information Technology Specialist with Minerals Management
Service, Dept of Interior. She takes tremendous pleasure in her job,
especially web designs. Besides her full-time job she has also enjoyed and
continues to attach importance to learning embroidery projects, making a
craft project, and being a proud grandmother of seven preschool aged
grandchildren. They are the best highlight of her life along with her three
adorable hearing children, Felicia, Fred, Jr, and Farrah. She raised her 3
children as a full-time housewife until the youngest, Farrah, went to
all-day school.
In addition to her
interests, Brenda Sue also enjoys hiking, walking briskly, mountain
climbing, caving, swimming, and water outdoor sports where she appreciates
the feel of the Mother of Nature with all wind, trees, sunflowers, sun, sky,
rivers, redwood, mountains, and clouds.
As a final note, Brenda
Sue has volunteered with the Kendall School Alumni Association (KSAA) as a
web developer/designer in addition to her experience as web pagemaster over
the past 12 years. She enjoys working with KSAA teamwork and likes work up a
sweat with Webmaster Suzy Wallace and Webmaster Byron Zimmerman to
maintain the KSAA website.
